IANIC Maps
Geospatial intelligence for water networks and assets
From representation to decision-making
IANIC Maps is a Web GIS designed to give water utilities a complete spatial view of their infrastructure and the operational data connected to it.
It brings network mapping, asset management, hydraulic modelling and real-time data together in an interactive geographic environment. Utilities can digitise and manage their network, analyse assets, simulate different operating scenarios and use a live digital representation of the network to support planning and operational decisions.
From individual pipes and valves to the behaviour of the wider network, IANIC Maps turns geographic and operational data into a clear, connected view of water infrastructure.
Map, manage and understand your network
Pipes, nodes, valves, tanks, pumps and zones can be digitised, edited and managed directly on the map, with each asset linked to its relevant information, including diameter, material, age and condition.
Built-in topology checks identify broken or impossible connections, while spatial validation detects overlaps, gaps, duplicate assets and incorrect coordinates. Together, these tools help maintain an accurate and reliable digital representation of the physical network.
The result is a structured spatial foundation for network management, analysis and planning.
From assets to lifecycle planning
Every network asset has a location, a history and a lifecycle. Bringing these elements together makes it easier to understand the condition and risk of the infrastructure.
Asset information such as age, material and condition can be combined with spatial data to support lifecycle analysis, maintenance planning and replacement strategies.
By viewing assets in their network context, utilities can identify areas of higher risk and prioritise interventions where they can have the greatest impact.
Model before you act
Hydraulic modelling provides a way to understand how the network behaves under different conditions.
Hydraulic solvers can simulate defined scenarios, from normal operation to equipment failures and changes in demand. What-if analysis allows users to compare scenarios and evaluate the potential effects of operational or infrastructure decisions before changes are made in the field.
This supports network planning, troubleshooting and the evaluation of potential interventions.
From a digital map to a digital twin
IANIC Maps extends conventional GIS and hydraulic modelling with a Network Digital Twin that reflects the current behaviour of the water network.
Live data from meters, pressure sensors, flow meters, pumps and water quality sensors can be continuously integrated into the model, connecting the physical network with real operational conditions.
The hydraulic model can be calibrated using observed network data, helping simulations more closely reflect actual network behaviour.
Real-time simulation then uses current operating conditions to represent the present state of the network, while predictive analysis can explore potential future conditions, including pressure drops, demand peaks, failures and the impact of leaks.
This allows utilities to move beyond simply viewing where assets are located and towards understanding how the network is behaving and how it may behave next.
